Elected officials , Civic Members and LIPA announce a major step toward the construction of the Rails to Trails pedestrian and bike path. The project, which is fully funded by the Federal Highway Administration, will enhance pedestrian and bicycle access, as well as connect activity centers, businesses, schools and libraries.
The proximity of the trail to the 5,200-acre RCA state preserve, Brookhaven State Park and the new Tesla Museum will maximize the area’s ecotourism value as well as complement the gateway to the North Fork farming community.
